The four numbers on the disc represent its flight ratings: how the disc is expected to behave in flight.
- Speed (1-14): How fast the disc needs to be thrown for optimal flight.
- Glide (1-7): The disc's ability to stay in the air and cover more distance.
- Turn (-5 to +1/0): The tendency to curve to the right (negative) or fly straight/stable (positive) during initial flight.
- Fade (0 to 5): The tendency to curve left at the end of the flight.
All brands have different plastic types to fit a variety of budgets, preferences, and purposes. Here is a quick breakdown on some of the plastic types and their purposes:
Basic (DX/Pro-D): Affordable, good grip, wear in with use, suitable for beginners.
Middle Grade (Pro/R-Pro/XT/Elite-X/Jawbreaker): More durable, enhanced grip and glide.
Ultra Durable (Champion/Elite-Z/Big-Z/Z-Flx): Clear, pearlescent, extremely durable, predictable flight.
Premium (Star/GStar/EchoStar/ESP/Titanium): Highly durable, improved grip, ideal for performance.
