Dear Community Sponsor, We would like to thank you for helping us make our first, annual Summer in the City Ultimate tournament such a success. We raised over $400 due to your generous donations to our silent auction, and this money will go directly toward empowering Denver youth through sport, friendship, and teamwork. Thanks to you, we now have the funding to run our Ultimate skills clinic and Scrub-a-Club event for the Wilfley Branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. At this clinic, we will teach the basics of Ultimate to 40 kids ages 7-18.  We will also provide them with snacks during the clinic and with an Ultimate disc to take home. Most importantly, this clinic will teach the kids about Ultimate’s Spirit of the Game—the sport’s credo that emphasizes personal accountability, teamwork, and mutual respect. The kids we work with will have the tools and support to apply these ideals to their Ultimate play and to their future endeavors off the field. Finally, we will work with the kids and staff of the Wilfley Center to clean up the facilities at our “Scrub-a-Club” event in late July.  With each community partnership, Ultimate Ambassadors creates a two-fold, Spirit of the Game experience: one dedicated to teaching Ultimate and the other to a service project.  Your donations help us make a positive difference in the Denver community by allowing us to participate in these service projects. Everyone was shocked at the quality (normally expecting cotton) and then shocked again at our league tournament. Since we play at nights we never got a chance to use them in the hot LA sun, so everyone was surprised at how cool they were for the tourney. Awesome awesome. Unfortunately, since 20 of our 26 players never played a game of ultimate before, we didn't win a single game. But darnit, we looked good. Because of our unique team composition (for LA) I'm drafting a report of what its like to bring complete newbies into the sport and what works and what didn't. I'm HIGHLY recommending ordering from Disc Store as a way to get new players to buy into the sport and the team and the league... and also the idea that you need a light and a dark jersey for each game.  With any luck, I can get the league rep to blast out to the other teams in the winter league for their orders next year.  Summer league is a little different and they've been using 5 for a few years, but there's always a chance that they'll want to swap as well. I'm highly satsified!! And I gave the disc and stickers to a couple rookies for improving throughout the season. Thanks again! Pickles and the disc store team, I decided just over a week ago that I would buy my first ultimate disc.
